Below is a list of best places I would visit on a trip to this location. My picks fit my personality and interest. Everyone has a different interest so you may not like everything I listed which is fine. If you like a place, I recommend saving it to Google Maps for a future trip down the road. I made sure to include the address or GPS to make it easier to find. You can find out more about me in the "About Me" section to see if we share common interests.
In the info below, the yellow cost number is just an estimated amount at the time I checked their website; over time, the amount could change. With the cost of a hotel room, I'm pricing a queen bed for two people for a night on the weekend, and the amount shown is before taxes. These figures are just a rough estimate of what places could cost, so if incorrect, I apologize.
- Maple Street Biscuit Company
18 E North St #2108, Greenville, SC 29601
- Biscuit Head
823 S Church St unit c, Greenville, SC 29601
Another biscuit place, Biscuit Head, was featured in stories in the New York Times, Food & Wine, USA Today, Garden & Gun, Paste, and Eater.com.
- Swamp Rabbit Trail
150 Cleveland Park Dr, Greenville, SC 29601
One of the best bike trails in South Carolina, Swamp Rabbit Trail (22 miles) is also one most popular outdoor activities in Greenville. It runs along the scenic Reedy River on a historic rail bed. Plenty of good stopping points along the trail make it a worthy day-long activity with places like the Greenville Zoo, Reedy River Falls, and Swamp Rabbit Cafe. If Swamp Rabbit Trail is your main point of a trip to Greenville then the best place to stay would be Swamp Rabbit Inn.
- BMW Zentrum
1400 SC-101, Greer, SC 29651
A free car museum outside Greenville, BMW Zentrum is the only museum of its kind in North America. It celebrates the past, present, and future of BMW with various rare vehicles on display. The exhibits take you through the entire history of BMW. BMW Zentrum is an extension of the BMW manufacturing plant in which you can take a guided tour of the plant (1hr or 2hr) for an additional cost. If you have the extra money to spend and want the ultimate BMW experience than you would include the nearby BMW Performance Center in your visit. At the center, you can take classes taught by professionals on improving your driving skill on off-road and road courses.
- Upcountry History Museum
540 Buncombe St, Greenville, SC 29601
A museum where you can learn about the local history of South Carolina Upcountry, which includes Pickens, Cherokee, Anderson, Oconee, Spartanburg, and Greenville County. The museum uses plenty of large scale dioramas in the exhibits to tell the story of the Upcountry and try to put you in the middle of it.
- Escape Artist Greenville - Escape Room
209 E Stone Ave, Greenville, SC 29609
One of the top escape rooms in the country can be found in Greenville. What is an escape room, you may say? It is an hour-long game where a group of people are locked in a themed room and have to find a way out by solving various puzzles. Escape Artist Greenville has five adventures (rooms) to choose from with a variety of difficulty levels. I would pick the Starlight Motel adventure because it involves an eerie motel room with challenging puzzles and recommended for ages 16+, which means it could be a little scary.
- Northgate Soda Shop
918 N Main St, Greenville, SC 29609
Northgate Soda Shop is known for its old school burgers and ice cream floats. The most famous burger on the menu is the Pimento Cheeseburger. This place was included in a film as one of the 100 great hamburger joints in America by George M. Motz, a burger expert.
- Sidewall Pizza Company
99 Cleveland St, Greenville, SC 29601
This place is known for their brick oven pizza, some people say it’s the best pizza in South Carolina. I would order the “Little Pepperoni” pizza which is a pizza topped with a bunch of mini pepperonis, mozzarella cheese, and crust is flavored with butter garlic sauce with pecorino romano cheese.
- Swamp Rabbit Cafe and Grocery
205 Cedar Lane Rd, Greenville, SC 29611
If you hit the Swamp Rabbit Trail on your bike, you need to stop here and grab lunch. They make some delicious sandwiches, and the ingredients come from local sustainable farmers. I would order a Ham & Cheese sandwich with extra bacon and maybe few cookies from the bakery for fun.
Places to Stay
- The Westin Poinsett
120 S Main St, Greenville, SC 29601
The only AAA Four-Diamond hotel in Greenville. The recommended place to go if you want to stay in a classy hotel.
- Swamp Rabbit Inn
1 Logan St, Greenville, SC 29601
Swamp Rabbit Inn is a six-bedroom modern bed and breakfast in downtown Greenville. It is the ideal place to stay if your goal is to bike the Swamp Rabbit Trail. Only two blocks from the trail and if needed you can rent bikes at the inn. The place looks really inviting, a “home away from home” feel to it.
21 and Up Fun
- Thomas Creek Brewery
2054 Piedmont Hwy, Greenville, SC 29605
Every time I visit a new area I’m always interested in checking out the local breweries. I’m not even a beer person but I enjoy the good nature atmosphere of a brewery. I never had a bad time at a brewery.
Drink the River Falls Red Ale (6.2% ABV), an Irish-Style Red Ale that won the Great American Beer Festival 2010 silver medal
- Brewery 85
6 Whitlee Ct, Greenville, SC 29607
Drink the Fishin’ Beer (4.0% ABV), a Munich Helles lager that is perfect for long and hot summer days down here in the South.
- Dark Corner Distillery
14 S Main St, Greenville, SC 29601
Some of the spirits they produce - Whiskey Girl Peach (70 proof), Hilton Head Distillery Bananas Foster Rum (70 proof), and Hilton Head Distillery Platinum White Rum (80 proof)
Out of Bounds
- Caesars Head State Park
59-95 Caesars Head Dr, Cleveland, SC 29635
Caesar's Head Overlook offers the best view in South Carolina, make sure your camera is ready to take some great photos. Afterward, hike the trail that leads to the 420-foot Raven Cliff Falls. (4 miles)
31 miles from Greenville
